Q2 2026 procurement summary — spring volumes by region

Teamotea reports its spring 2026 procurement volumes, moving 1,247 metric tonnes of fine Chinese tea across six major producing regions. The second-quarter summary details pluck-by-pluck sourcing that anchors the constellation’s 35 product brands, with Yunnan and Fujian together accounting for 68% of total intake.

Saint Petersburg — 30 June 2026

Teamotea today announced the close of its spring procurement cycle for the second quarter of 2026, reporting a total of 1,247 metric tonnes of Chinese tea secured across direct-farm partnerships, cooperative agreements, and curated auctions. The volume, which spans the season’s first-flush plucks from late March through early June, marks a 9.4% year-over-year increase that reflects both deepening relationships in core origins and the addition of two new village-level sourcing clusters in Fujian and Zhejiang.

Regional volumes were led by Yunnan, which contributed 508 metric tonnes, or 41% of total spring intake. Within that figure, shēng pǔ’ěr (生普洱) accounted for 211 tonnes, drawing from 14 recognised mountain zones including Lǎobānzhāng (老班章), Bīngdǎo (冰岛), and Yìwǔ (易武). Ripe (shú pǔ’ěr, 熟普洱) tonnage reached 164 tonnes, with the remaining 133 tonnes composed of diānhóng (滇红) black tea and early-picked lǜchá (绿茶) from high-altitude gardens above 1,800 metres. Fujian followed at 337 metric tonnes, dominated by oolong cultivars — Tiěguānyīn (铁观音), Dàhóngpáo (大红袍), and Mí Lán Xiāng (蜜兰香) — alongside a growing segment of white tea, notably Báiháoyínzhēn (白毫银针), which climbed to 52 tonnes. Zhejiang supplied 149 tonnes, nearly all Lóngjǐng (龙井) (West Lake and Shengzhou grades) and early ānjí báichá (安吉白茶). Anhui delivered 116 tonnes of huángshān máofēng (黄山毛峰) and qímén hóngchá (祁门红茶), while Jiangsu and Sichuan contributed 79 and 58 tonnes respectively, mainly pan-fired green teas and chuān hóng (川红) black tea.

“This spring’s volumes reflect a procurement engine that has become materially more effective at securing premium lots before they reach open-market circulation,” said Dmitry Sologubov, Co-Founder and Managing Partner. “The bulk of our increase came not from larger contracts at the factory gate but from the 14 farm-direct agreements we activated in Menghai and Wuyishan during the winter of 2025–2026. Those agreements allowed Field Advisors to assess raw leaf quality during the spring flush and reserve parcels on site — a workflow that delivered a measurable gain in cupping scores across our domestic evaluation panels.”

All procured leaf was graded against the GB/T 23776-2018 sensory evaluation methodology, with 94.2% of lots rated Grade A or above before acceptance into the Teamotea supply chain. The company’s quality-rejection rate — lots tendered but declined after cupping — fell to 3.8%, down from 5.1% in Q2 2025, a shift attributed to pre-season calibration sessions held with 23 partner producers. Further transparency data, including farm-level lot tracking and chemical-residue certificates, is published on the company’s sustainability portal at tea.services.

Beyond the headline tonnage, the second quarter also saw the constellation continue to diversify its single-origin reserve. The number of distinct garden-level lots that qualified for standalone release on thetea.app and puerh.app rose to 411, compared with 367 in Q2 2025, reflecting the maturation of the micro-lot programme launched in 2024. Those lots are now beginning to flow into the retail pipeline, with shop.thetea.app and its regional storefronts expected to list an expanded range of spring-2026 teas starting 15 July 2026.

Q3 priorities, outlined in the procurement report, include the summer flush for Wuyi rock teas, the August pu-erh fermentation cycle in Menghai, and the autumn oolong harvest in Fujian’s Anxi county. Teamotea also confirmed that it is piloting a digital-field-audit programme in three Yunnan villages, enabling remote buyer verification for lot-level certifications. The programme will be documented on tea.events ahead of a broader rollout in 2027.
